Urgent care

Urgent care for cats in a mess

Some coat situations cannot wait for the next free appointment. If your cat has come home wearing something they cannot clean off themselves, take a breath. Here is what we can help with, what needs a vet instead, and how to reach us.

What urgent care covers

Urgent care is for coats that have been contaminated or overwhelmed, where waiting makes things worse for your cat.

If what your cat needs is routine grooming, our grooming packages are the better place to start.

Before anything else

Some of this needs a vet, not a groomer

We are a grooming studio. We handle the coat, not the medical emergency. Please go to an emergency vet first, before you contact us, if you notice any of these:

  • Injuries or open wounds
  • A risk of poisoning, for example if your cat has been licking or swallowing whatever is stuck in their coat
  • Any trouble breathing
  • Collapse, or a cat who cannot stand or stay upright

Severe flea cases can also turn medical, and quickly. A heavy flea burden takes blood faster than a small body can replace it, which can leave a cat dangerously weak. Please see a vet first if you notice:

  • kittens with heavy infestations
  • pale gums
  • unusual weakness or lethargy

If any of this sounds like your cat, the vet comes first and we can wait. Once your cat has been seen and is stable, message us and we will tell you whether and when we can help with the coat.

Message or call us first

Message or call us first, before you set off. We will tell you honestly what we can do today.

It helps us if you can tell us:

Our hours, and when we reply

The studio is open daily, 11:00 AM to 7:45 PM, including weekends and public holidays.

We reply as soon as we can during opening hours. Our groomers are often on the table with another cat, so we cannot promise an instant answer or a same day slot. What we can promise is honesty: if we cannot help today, we will say so plainly, and where possible we will suggest next steps.

If you message outside our hours, send it anyway. We will reply when we open.

Coming to the studio

Please come only after we have confirmed. An unannounced arrival can mean a long wait for a cat who is already stressed, because the room and the groomer may already be spoken for. One message saves your cat that wait.

Your cat travels in a secure carrier. Not in your arms, not in an open basket. A proper carrier keeps your cat safe on the way here, and keeps whatever is in their coat from spreading through your car and onto you.

Bring anything useful you have on hand, such as the packaging of the substance if you still have it, and anything a vet has already told you.

What it costs

Urgent coat work varies enormously from cat to cat, so we do not quote it blind. Fees are assessed on arrival and explained before we begin, and nothing starts until you have agreed. For the full picture, see our grooming terms.

Not sure if this counts as urgent?

If your cat is hurt, unwell, or showing any of the signs above, a vet comes first. Otherwise, message or call us and tell us what happened. We will tell you honestly whether we can help with the coat, and when.
